We arrived at Monterey, California in the afternoon.  A little too early to check into our hotel room.  We immediately pulled over and parked on what looked like the main drag.  It’s amazing how different these towns look than what you pictured in your head.  Being from the midwest, I assumed almost all the towns in California along the coast were big cities.  I’m not sure where this notion came from, other than I assumed there was so much going on in the west and east coast that they needed big cities to handle it all!  This trip up The Pacific Coast Highway has really been an eye opener for me.
