It was so pretty this weekend, we got out and walked around our yard.  There are small signs of spring everywhere!  The lenten rose are blooming and my tulips are popping up.  Even though my tulips are several weeks away from blooming, I can’t resist the potted tulips showing up in the grocery store right now.  Oh, I know it would be way less expensive to just buy a bunch of tulip bulbs, but I love that I get to enjoy these tulips first on my dining room table, and then again year after year as we plant them in our garden.  Each year I buy about 2 or 3 of these potted tulips and we are slowly making a little tulip patch in our garden.

These were all ready so bright and springy, I add Kim Klassen’s Tuesday texture to them.

I believe that I probably said this last January, but I am really going to try and participate in Texture Tuesday every week!  We shall see.  Again, I’m pulling from the archives here.  I was hoping to stop at the grocery store and pick up a bouquet of flowers, but I was on another mission.  It’s supposed to get pretty cold here this week, lows in the 20’s and teens.  The problem is that I am feeding a stray cat in the back yard.  This cat will not let me get close to him at all.  When I bring his food out, he used to run about 15 feet away, now he runs about 3 feet away and turns and looks at me.  Slow progress, but progress none the less.  I’m not sure where he sleeps at night, but sometimes when it’s raining I find him in the area under our porch (our porch is on the second floor, so there is sort of a patio area underneath it).  We have a homemade potting bench and lots of garden stuff (and other stuff) piled underneath it.  I see him sometimes on a pile of boards right against our wall.  So, today I picked up a little pet house and some bedding.  Hubs is going to try to put some foam board insulation in it and then we’re going to try to get it set up over by where we sometimes see the cat taking shelter.  Long story as to why I didn’t pick up a bouquet!

White Tulips for Texture Tuesday

I know it’s been a few weeks since I posted last.  I’m starting my New Year’s Resolutions early by getting back to my regular blogging.  When you stop to think, though, that I maintain 4 blogs:  Sidewalk Shoes, Grey is the New Black, my blog for my photography business, Pamela Greer Photography, and this one – I think I’m not doing too bad.

I originally created this 365 blog because I was doing a 365 (duh!).  However, it eventually became a place for me to post a photo a day, not necessarily take a photo a day.  It was supposed to help me keep up on my personal photo editing.  However, in my Lightroom file marked 365 to edit – I currently have 2165 photos!  So, really I should post more than one a day, if I am ever going to catch up!

Today’s photo is one of my favorite subjects – white tulips.  I love them.  I think their white color makes them practically seasonless.  They look crisp and refreshing in spring, summer, fall, or winter.   I edited this using Kim Klassen’s Melancholy preset and her Rainy Day Texture.

Tulips always look so cheerful.  I thought these looked a little moody.  Probably pouting because they are not outside in the sun.

Still trying to figure out WordPress.  I am so lost.  I might try another theme, one that has more complete instructions and maybe use it to try and learn what I am doing! 

I’ve been keeping up with my resolution to have flowers on my table all the time.  These are some potted yellow tulips that I purchased at the grocery store.  As soon as they are finished blooming, I’ll plant them in the ground and enjoy them next year in my garden.  It’s a win-win!

I love when supermarkets start putting out their displays of potted tulips.  I pay just slightly more than I do for a cut bouquet and when they are finished blooming, off they go into the ground to come around next year!
